On December 15, a small group of forward looking executives will spend a day learning about and practicing alternative paths to leadership and innovation by applying Design Thinking tools to product, innovation and engagement “laboratories.” Click here for more details (See participants’ list below).

Why Design Thinking? Because merely understanding new concepts, launching new initiatives or stating new objectives do not catalyze change.

For many years now, I have focused my consulting work, research and writing on how organizations can shift from inside-out to outside-in—from products to customers and relationships; from efficiency to engagement and innovation. I found out that making such shift means that you are thinking, approaching problems and doing things differently. This is a quantum leap. Our organizations are wired for production and efficiency rather than innovation and experimentation. To make this leap, you need new tools and approaches to overcome the force of habit, existing systems and cultures and begin to embed a fundamentally new perspective.

For me, Design Thinking, provides concrete, practical tools and processes that turn on their heads habitual ways of approaching problem-solving and creating value for customers and help you transform the culture.

Design Thinking, adapted for business by thought leaders at Stanford University, makes use of design principles to solve problems, conceptualize possibilities and design products or solutions that expand creativity and accommodate disruption.

In this workshop, participants will use a condensed and simple approach to practice design thinking tools and techniques, such as, customer interviews, ideation, rapid prototype development through an iterative, collaborative process of getting and applying feedback. They will then apply these tools to address their own challenges.
